Detective Pikachu Movie Facts, Easter Eggs and hidden details

Tim got tricked by a scene from the movie Angels With Filthy Souls (1990) thinking there is someone home, the same scene that tricked the thieves in the movie home alone (1990).

During the climax, Pikachu drops down onto a Pidgeot to escape. Similarly, Pikachu rides a Pidgeotto in the opening sequence of the original anime

There is a scene where a Machamp is directing traffic to go a different route in Ryme City due to a sleeping Snorlax blocking the road. This is a reference to the Generation 1 video games where two sleeping Snorlaxes block paths to certain areas

The building sign that the Aipoms are hanging on spells "OAK" as a reference to the Professor Oak character from the cartoon and games.

The scene near the end of the movie, with the Pokemon balloons during the Ryme City battle, is a homage to the Super Smash Bros. Melee level - Poke Floats

Pikachu is severely wounded by a suprisingly small chuck of earth that has fallen. This is because Pikachu is an electric type, which in the games, are weak to ground type damage.

Pikachu makes a Magikarp evolve by kicking it. This references the anime where James accidentally does the same thing (and later a Mankey)

Two of Tim Goodman's shirts are based off of Unown- pokemon that resemble letters.

The red details on Mr Mime are based on a rubber dodgeball.

While Pikachu is trying to convince Tim that they should team up to find Harry, the BAR sign outside makes out the word DAD from Pikachu's perspective (low angle shot).

As Pikachu climbs up a dresser, he scratches its surface, leaving visible claw marks.

Pikachu tries to use Thunderbolt on Charizard and fails. This is not because of his amnesia BUT because (as Tim states moments before) he only knows the moves Quick Attack, Discharge, Electroball and Volt Tackle.

The main character's hometown is called Leaventown, a joke about how in every Pokemon game the main character leaves their hometown
