In both the opening and the closing credits all instances of the letters A, C, G, and T (representing the four nucleotides of DNA) are emphasized.
The name is derived from the four bases of DNA - Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine and Guanine. Also, the name Eugene was carefully selected as it features 'gene' (a short section of DNA) in the name.

- As Vincent and Irene leave the party, Vincent rolls his sleeve over his fist to prevent his DNA from spreading to the guard.
The character German attests to Jerome Morrows superior genetics stating : "You Could Go Anywhere with This Guy's Helix Tucked Under Your Arm". Jerome (disabled from the waist down) later has to climb a helix shaped staircase using only his arms.
The piano piece Vincent and Irene listen to at the concert, which Irene mentions "can only be played by a person with 12 fingers," in fact requires 12 fingers to play. It's impossible for a 10-fingered person to play what we're hearing.
