Mia tells Sebastian that she hates jazz in the exact spot where Pink Floyd's photo was taken for their album "Wish You Were Here." (explanation in comments)
: A song from Whiplash called 'When I Wake' by Justin Hurwitz plays in the cafe. Whiplash and La la land were both directed by Damien Chazelle and Justin Hurwitz does the music in both films.
