Onward Movie Trivia
Is actually based off of director Dan Scanlon's life, since he and his brother lost their father at a young age, and didn't have anything to remember him by except a cassette tape. In the movie, Ian also has a cassette tape with a recording from his father.
Ian replays an old cassette with segments of his dad's voice, paralleling a moment from director Dan Scanlon's childhood when he and his brother discovered a long lost cassette tape of their deceased father's voice expressing a simple but impactful "hi" and "bye".

You can see a chef rat cooking in The Manticore's Tavern, referencing Remy from Ratatouille (2007).

While Ian was learning how to drive; The van that took the toys to Daycare from Toy Story 3(2010) is seen on the left.
When the mom and The Manticore leave the pawn shop, the mom notices a pretty vase. The vase pattern can be seen in Moana. The light next to it has mermaids. The tapestry on the wall appears to have a Genie lamp referencing Aladdin!
