Nick Fury relates a story of his grandfather being an elevator operator. In real-life, Samuel L. Jackson's grandfather was an elevator operator.

Incorporates a slowed-down version of Bucky's scream as he fell to his supposed death in the previous film, Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

Joss Whedon (director of Avengers 1 & 2) has a cameo as the man coming down the escalator during the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum scene.

When Natasha tosses one of her taser discs at Winter Soldier's arm to fry the circuits and disable it, we see it leaves the metal underneath charred. This is also why his arm is being repaired after the fight.

Nick Fury has a fake tombstone which has a quote from Ezekiel 25:17, the same quote Samuel L. Jackson says in Pulp Fiction. It's also not a real biblical quote, great watch today :)

Cap 'borrows' a car, prompting Black Widow to ask "Where did you learn to steal a car?". This is a reference to the 1990 Captain America film (starring Matt Salinger), wherein Cap (on two occasions) feigns illness in order to steal an innocent person's car.

When Sitwell was being interrogated about Dr. Zola's algorithm, he mentioned Stephen Strange as one of its targets, predicting that Stephen will become Dr. Strange and be a threat to Hydra in the future.

When Cap jumps out of the elevator, he instantly goes into the skydiving freefall position. This position gives a person the most control while falling, and by maximizing the body's surface area, it also helps to slow one's descent.

Jasper Sitwell mentions "A man in Cairo" among the list of HYDRA targets that includes Hulk and Doctor Strange. This is most likely Marc Spector, better known as Moon Knight, a hero who received the powers of the Egyptian moon god.

Sam Wilson recommends music to Steve who says he'll add it to the list. Also on the list is Star Wars, a film series that features Samuel L Jackson, also in this movie.
