When Chuck returns after four years on an island, FedEx throws him a party and serves seafood, including raw fish. An old friend even says that they need to "catch up on some fishing." Chuck has done nothing but eat fish, mostly raw, for the last four years.

Once Chuck lands on the island there is no music throughout the entire duration of him being stranded until the very moment he leaves by overcoming the large waves that bested him before.

To make himself look like an average out of shape middle aged man Tom Hanks didn't exercise and allowed himself to grow pudgy. Production was then halted for a year so he could lose fifty pounds and grow out his hair for his time spent on the deserted island.

Actual lines of dialogue were written for Wilson to help Tom Hanks have a more natural interaction with the volleyball.
